Three things, done properly

A real mod library

Maps, skins, tools, and patches with versioning, screenshots, and reviews. Submitted by modders, vetted by moderators, free to download.

A working forum

Threads, replies, reactions, full-text search. The kind of place where you can actually ask "how do I get this running on Windows 11" and get an answer.

A community, not a product

No ads, no analytics rabbit-hole, no upsell tier. Run by volunteers who love these games and want them preserved.

What we're about

Black & White

2001

Lionhead Studios' god game where your hand shapes belief, your creature learns from you, and your villagers love or fear you for it.

Black & White 2

2005

Cities, armies, miracles. The sequel scaled the divine up to civilizations while keeping the moral pull of the original.

Creature Isle

2002

The standalone expansion focused on creature behavior — taming, training, and the strange social lives of giant beasts.

Battle of the Gods

2006

The BW2 expansion that doubled down on epic-scale conflict and added new creatures and miracles to the pantheon.

Old games deserve good homes

Lionhead closed in 2016. The official servers went quiet. The mods scattered across dead forums, Mediafire links that 404, and zip files passed around in Discord DMs. People still play these games — they still love them — but the infrastructure that made the community possible kept rotting away.

BWRealm v2 is the rebuild. A real database. A real mod library with versioning and reviews. A forum that doesn't require a rosetta stone to navigate. A search bar that actually finds things. The boring infrastructure work nobody wants to do, done so the fun stuff stays possible.

We're not affiliated with Microsoft, Lionhead, or EA Games. This is a fansite, run by people who played these games as kids and refuse to let them be forgotten.

Built in the open

Modern stack

Spring Boot 3 + Java 25 backend with hexagonal architecture. Next.js 14 frontend with TypeScript. PostgreSQL, Redis, and Cloudflare R2 underneath.

Run by volunteers

Servers, moderation, code, design — all donated time from people who love the games. No paid staff, no ads, no investors.
